Starting the Malas & Milhas, which is a plan that we have been thinking about for some time, we bring as our inaugural post a trip report, one of the most incredible experiences we have ever had: our trip to Acapulco in which we stayed hotel in Chaves!

Why Acapulco?

We were determined to visit the Mexico City and somewhere in the coastline, but we didn't exactly want Cancun. Not that we have any reservations with the city, but in addition to it being more expensive, it is very touristy, and we were thinking of something more “Mexico”. We started to see Los Cabos, which attracted us right away, but then the idea came: Why not Acapulco?

The legendary city where Vila do Chaves Did you all have fun? We were super excited about the idea, but then we thought “it’s going to be expensive”. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw that it was the same price as the route in Los Cabos, and better yet, the hotel in Chaves with affordable value. I'll get there...

We would travel from Copa Airlines from Rio de Janeiro to Mexico City, and after a few days there, the Aeromar would take us to Acapulco.

Required documents

You don't need a visa to enter Mexico, just have your passport with more than six months left to expire. On the plane, the flight attendant gives you an entry document to be filled out and handed over to immigration.

Small Aeromar plane from Mexico City to Acapulco.

The plane of Aeromar It was a super tiny teco. It looked like a bus! There were few passengers too, there were two of us and 14 other people. It shook to go up, but then it stabilized and we went there calmly, a little less than an hour's rest. flight.

Taxi

When we arrived at the airport, the shock came: the price of taxis. To go to the Hotel Emporio Acapulco, hotel that hosted our beloved Keys, we would spend 400 pesos. As we didn't want to spend all of this in one race, we inquired and discovered that there were some vans going to that region outside.

One of them charged 7 Mexican pesos per person to drop us off at a closer location, where we took a taxi for 150 pesos to get there. And it was worth the travel time, as the airport is quite far from the city center.

There are also collective taxis who pass by on the streets announcing how many spaces are available in the car. They already come with a passenger and charge 14 pesos per passenger. It sounded interesting, but we didn't have the experience.

The Chaves hotel in Acapulco

Well, on a very sunny day, we finally arrived at the Hotel Empório Acapulco, and that's when the dream began. Who is it fan of Keys You know the meaning of visiting this magical place. At the entrance, we came face to face with the unforgettable revolving door, where the Keys He got really confused when he arrived.

The famous revolving door is still present, but now more modern!

Room 1027

I had sent an email making this request to the hotel in advance, and despite not having promised us anything, they kindly accommodated us in the room 1027, same room where Your Belly and Keys stayed.

When we opened the door, nostalgia set in completely! Of course, a lot of things were modernized, but everything looked the same! The two beds, the balcony with railings, the stone in the sea. It was like stepping into the episode 🙂 .

The swimming pools

In the pool area it was also impossible not to remember them all the time. There is no longer the trampoline that appears in Chapolin and Keys, but the pool is family friendly.

Many things have been renovated, but a lot is still recognizable. There are also currently two other pools besides the one known from the episode.

In these other two, only guests over 18 years old can enter. I found this interesting on the one hand, because they were very quiet pools, for those who wanted to rest, read a book on the comfortable beds they leave around, in addition to working, since almost all areas of the pool hotel has network coverage WiFi at no additional cost. The service of hotel is excellent, wonderful breakfast and they are really attentive.

And look what we found there! The original Chavinho's ham sandwich, which in Mexico is called “jamón pie”. To accompany, the water tamarind!

The hotel is very well located, in front of Diana shopping mall. There are some food options there, such as Burger King and Applebee's. There is also no shortage of restaurants around. There are several restaurants where they sell tacos. cheap and delicious, the ham sandwich, among others typical Mexican foods. It's really worth trying!

I plan to make another post about what to do in Acapulco. This is more for those who want to get to know the city of Acapulco and stay at Chaves hotel. The message is: It is worth it! Very much indeed! It's a childhood dream and an unforgettable experience.
